“You don’t know me,” she said, finding the need to say it out loud to convince herself more than him.

He stared at her, his eyes widening but not leaving her.

“You don’t know me,” she said again and broke into a run before he could say anything else and stop her from running away when he had no business to… Somewhere along the way, she dropped the notepad she’d clutched so tightly and she didn’t stop to pick it up…

She wondered if he’d buy a new one to replace it and write Confrontation… She runs away but will she come back? The foggy outline of her home filled her mind but suddenly, she couldn’t remember which road to take. She couldn’t stop thinking and the questions made her head pound… her heart crack into meaningless pieces…

She shouldn’t think. She shouldn’t question. There were too many missing pieces in her life. Questioning it would kill her. Why would it matter?

She didn’t know him and he didn’t know her.
